Want to study GCSE Dance but they don’t offer it at your school?

The Victoria Jane School of Dance offers this specialist GCSE subject within the dance school and it is offered to both students and non-students of the school.

  • The course is offered to those who are in Years 9-11 at school and have a keen interest in dance.
  • The course is studied over 18 months.
  • Classes taught in a fully air conditioned dance studio with spring floors, mirrors and Barre’s.

It enables students to:

  • Increase their self-esteem and confidence
  • Employ the skills of problem solving and creativity
  • Make knowledgeable decisions about dance

GCSE Dance Course Outline

Section 1: PERFORMANCE

30% of the GCSE (40 marks)

  • Set phrases
  • Duo or Trio performance

Assessment – internally marked and externally modified

Section 2: CHOREOGRAPHY

30% of the GCSE (40 marks)

  • Solo or Group choreography

Assessment – internally marked and externally modified

Section 3: APPRECIATION

40% of the GCSE (80 marks)

  • Written paper 1 ½ hours

Assessment – written paper to be sat at Aldenham School
